Northwell proudly takes care of children's health needs, both physical and mental. Did you know that one in five children suffers from a mental health issue? Sadly, suicide is the second-leading cause of death in children and adolescents.
Cohen Children's Medical Center has a bright vision for the future. Northwell is investing $500 million in pediatric mental health services, relying on our generous donors for $150 million of this amount. We partnered with Long Island school districts to establish an urgent care network for mental health. A new inpatient tower dedicated to pediatric behavioral health will help break the stigma of seeking services for mental health support. Endowment and program support will help us recruit additional clinicians who specialize in depression and anxiety in children.
