Long-time Trustee Continues His Legacy on Staten Island

Stanley Applebaum, a native Staten Islander, has been on the Board of Trustees at Staten Island University Hospital for almost 30 years. Stanley recently funded a gift in honor of his late wife, Maxine.

“I felt as if this was the perfect opportunity to make a difference, and frankly, it benefited the hospital as well as my family and me.” Stanley created a charitable gift annuity. He will receive a fixed income stream for his life. Part of the income he receives is tax-free—an increasingly important benefit when tax rates are slated to increase—and at the end of his life the remaining amount will benefit the Hospital.

This generous gift made Stanley the first official member of the new Legacy Society at the Hospital. “There are many ways to get involved,” said Stanley. He welcomes others to follow in his footsteps.

Stanley, an attorney, has two children: Jill, also an attorney; and David, who is in finance.
