Donor Stories-Dodd

Long Life Leads to Generous Final Gift

Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, New York, has been a fortunate and well-deserved recipient of bequests since 1926. The sizes of the bequests have ranged from $200 to in excess of $9.1 million, but they all have one thing in common: support for a beloved community hospital.

Helen Krisnak Dodd is one generous donor who chose to make a gift through her will. Living to 105 years of age is an achievement, and Helen spent her 10+ decades residing in different states, holding several jobs, marrying her beloved late husband Louis B. Dodd, and travelling around the world.

A depression-era child, Helen was a wise and skilled investor who managed her own funds. And now the Southside community benefits from compassionate care and medical excellence, thanks to the generous final gift of a remarkable woman.
