Donor Stories—Wunsch
Dedicated Volunteer Gives Back to Community
The late Elsie Wunsch was a longtime resident of Glen Cove. Elsie spent time in her home in a room filled with bookshelves containing numerous books in a variety of genres. This is no surprise considering Elsie attended Hunter College, where she earned a BA, and Columbia College, where she earned an MA, both in English literature.
In addition to being an avid reader and speaking Spanish, Elsie made a place in her heart for organizations as diverse as the Cub Scouts, the Girl Scouts (she was a troop leader for over a decade), Animal Lovers, the Glen Cove community in numerous ways, and Northwell Health Glen Cove Hospital. Elsie dedicated her time as a volunteer for Glen Cove Hospital for over 50 years.
Elsie and her late husband, Samuel, included a bequest to Glen Cove Hospital through their wills. They both received services in and from the Hospital, and, in Elsie’s own words, “The Hospital needs it.” The Rehabilitative Services area was dedicated in her honor.
